🌟 Today, Northern Cancer Voices had the privilege of joining almost 100 staff from Keswick & Solway PCN in Cumbria. Sarah from Cumbria CVS and Lorna spoke about the importance of giving patients and carers a voice — helping them feel truly seen and heard. We explored how crucial it is to engage those who can’t, won’t, or don’t interact with the system as it currently stands — because so often, these are the very people the NHS was created to serve, and the ones most impacted by health inequalities. 💡 The conversation centred on striving for equity, not just excellence, and the reminder that people may forget what you said — but they will never forget how you made them feel. We were honoured to be joined by some incredible people, as well as powerful videos from lived experience experts, all echoing this message. 💜 Earlier this week, our Engagement Officer Julie joined the East Durham Peer Support Group once again. She was blown away hearing how the group first began, and the familiar but important themes of feeling lost and unsupported after a cancer diagnosis.
