Hi everybody. There are some flood warnings around tonight, but our information is that, though there is rain around, it’s not going to adversely affect our areas or rivers. The rivers are currently very low at present following the great weather we have recently enjoyed. If any of this changes, we’ll update this information. Good news regarding the screening in place at the Cocker Bridge! We have had an update from Cumberland Council. Since the screening was put in place, the Old Courthouse building has been subjected to at least three named storms, none of which have resulted in debris coming from the building into the safety netting provided. Cumberland Council stated that, “Using data and a visual inspection of the building, it has been found that there has been no significant movement to the building through extreme weather conditions.” Work will now begin to remove the screens. This will greatly improve the pedestrian access and hopefully increase the footfall for local businesses. (fb)
