What a weekend! 🎉 Our amazing Foodshare volunteers were out in force at the Beer & Cider Festival playing “Throw the Axe & Dart,” chatting with the public, and raising awareness all around 🍻🎯 A huge shoutout to Karl at Collective Brands, who got our branded t-shirts to us in record time, literally as we were walking out the door! 👕 AND… we’ve officially started our move to our new home in Reform Road! 🏠 Massive thanks to Davis Brothers Nursery for the van with a tail lift and to Jules and Phil for bringing their own van. A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers today! 🙌 We’ve officially kicked off the big move to our new home and what an incredible effort it’s been so far! Since the quote we received from a removal company was way beyond what we could afford as a charity, we decided to take on the move ourselves, powered by community spirit and the generosity of our volunteers. 15 brilliant volunteers came forward to help. We borrowed a van, and another volunteer kindly brought their own smaller van. Together, we worked non-stop for six and a half hours, moving food and shelving solidly all day. In total, we shifted an incredible 1,285 crates full of food and 20 large shelving units and we are still only about a third of the way through the move! We’ll be planning the next moving day, a time when we can all get together again and hopefully secure another van with a tail lift to make things that easier. To everyone who helped today, thank you.
