Ayub has been coming to OT at Growing Hope to learn about things like how to feel calm in his body, and what he can do when he doesn't feel calm. Waiting and listening are really hard to do when you're excited, worried or impatient.⁠ ⁠ Ayub has been crawling through a long, dark tunnel to get deep and calming pressure over his whole body, and then collecting "feelings" words from the wall and trying to draw matching faces. In this session, he chose to draw happy, sad, sick and shy. He is really artistic! ⁠ ⁠ He is learning that adults are better able to help him when he can say what he is feeling. He is also learning that things like bouncing on ball, swinging, crawling through a tunnel or being squashed under a gym ball by his mum help him to feel calm and safe. He has been doing a great job waiting and listening to instructions for all of the activities!🌟 (fb)
