‼️People, we need to have a serious talk. It’s been a sunny weekend in August, prime summer holiday period, a time when people are out, enjoying the very best that Margate has to offer. Except, not in Tivoli. Because here lies 22 bin bags’ worth of rubbish. And we know that, because in just one hour, that is how much litter the members of Margate WI picked up today. And if we are honest, we could’ve filled more. It’s a record for us, but it is a terrible achievement. It is nothing to be proud of. We are just saddened by it all. 💔 You would think, by the sheer number of discarded energy drink cans we collected, that the people who originally drank them would actually have the energy to take the cans to a bin, but apparently not. One of the worst corners of Tivoli were the steps leading to Sanger Close and they are quite simply a hazard to navigate down due to so much broken glass. We’ve said before that Thanet District Council needs to look at installing at least one additional bin in Tivoli (and we still want that please), but honestly, we also need you all to make an effort too. Picnics down the park are great, but clean up afterwards.
