It has come to our attention that a person was spotted pooping in the park after the washrooms were closed. A sad situation! The good news is that the poopetrator may have been identified by a watchful bystander. we believe we know who it was. Our thanks to this helpful individual, to Dave for alerting the Fb community, and to our wonderful Neighbours and volunteers for discussing this issue, and seeking out solutions. If the individual has been correctly identified, I feel comfortable speaking with them directly, both to offer support and to stress the importance of respecting our shared community spaces. We may also be able to address the lack of Public Washrooms at night, One possible solution could be placing a Porta-Potty behind the Neighbourhood House on a trial basis. While we do our best to support all our Neighbours and the broader community, we have no control over what people do after hours. All of our volunteers are just as disappointed and concerned as other community members when incidents like this occur. Thanks again to everyone who continue to contribute ideas and energy toward addressing and potentially solving issues in our community. We are so very grateful to all who attended the Chemainus Giant Street Market and purchased/donated to Neighbourhood House. It was very successful! The money will go towards our community programs. The leftover items: clothes and household items, will be available in our free store all week. (fb)
