Nursing week had a sweet start yesterday. We reserved an ice cream truck to serve all the classics to our nurses, staff, volunteers, peers, and clients yesterday to kickoff our nursing week festivities. Nurses at Casey House really go the distance to make our clients feel supported and welcomed, so what better way to brighten their day than with a little frosty treat 🍦 (fb)

May 5 is Red Dress Day, a National Day of Awareness that recognizes the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S). The red dress symbolism was brought upon by Métis artist Jaime Black. #MMIWG2S brings attention to the ongoing crisis where Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit folks face exponentially higher rates of sexual assault, violence, and murder compared to national averages. Even with the figures we are aware of, there still remain high amounts of unreported statistics. We honour the sacred stories, voices, and lives of women, girls, and two-spirited people as they continue to experience violence rooted in colonization. (fb)
