Cystic Fibrosis Canada, also known as Fibrose Kystique Canada, is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Canadians living with cystic fibrosis. Established on July 15, 1960, the organization is registered with the business registration number 106845100 RR0001.
Mission and Objectives
The primary mission of Cystic Fibrosis Canada is to fund research for a cure for cystic fibrosis and to advocate for high-quality patient care. This is achieved by raising funds to support research projects, promoting public awareness, and undertaking advocacy initiatives on behalf of individuals with cystic fibrosis.
Research and Care
Cystic Fibrosis Canada annually supports approximately 50 research projects, including grants to scholars, post-doctoral fellows, and students. The organization awards over $7 million in grants to cystic fibrosis researchers each year. Additionally, it provides about $2 million in grants to the 42 CF clinics and five transplant centers across Canada to ensure high-quality care. The organization plays a pivotal role in supporting Canadian researchers, who are recognized globally for their contributions to understanding and treating cystic fibrosis. Notably, Canadian researchers funded by Cystic Fibrosis Canada discovered the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis in 1989.
Education and Advocacy
Beyond research, Cystic Fibrosis Canada provides educational materials for both the cystic fibrosis community and the general public. It also engages in patient advocacy to address priority issues affecting individuals with cystic fibrosis. The organization celebrates its achievements, including the doubling of life expectancy for Canadians living with cystic fibrosis over its 65-year history.

Helping Canadians with CF live WO Limits We believe that no one who lives with cystic fibrosis should be left behind. As the national charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Canadians living with CF we mobilize our community to address priority issues advocate for improved access to medicine and resources and fund targeted Canadian research that builds on our understanding of this rare disease to lessen its burden and finally find a cure.
