The team at SportAbility and the Boccia community is deeply saddened by the passing of Zosia Ettenberg. Zosia took up Boccia in 2022, she played at the Provincials and was interested in playing in Nationals but her shoulder pain forced her to quit. A subsequent shoulder replacement surgery allowed her to compete again and in July 2023 she was back in the Provincials and achieved the Gold Medal. This gave her the opportunity to play in Nationals and Zosia came home with a Silver Medal for the pairs. Zosia was a true advocate in the disability sport community, setting a powerful example for the younger generation and the community by promoting inclusivity, breaking stereotypes, inspiring determination, emphasizing teamwork, fostering community engagement, encouraging healthy lifestyles, celebrating achievements, and nurturing social connections. Zosia's tireless commitment and enthusiasm on the boccia court will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. ✨ (fb)
