For months after being assaulted, Kache lived in fear and shame. Depression weighed her down. She distrusted men around her and felt trapped, alone, and worried about how her community saw her. After her son helped her report the incident, Kache's local chief knew of the IJM team and informed them of her story. This prompted immediate plans for a home visit to gather case details and begin working toward her restoration. IJM continued to walk alongside her in counseling sessions and provided legal support, giving her the strength to begin healing. Today, Kache’s life looks different. 💛 With IJM’s help, she opened a small shop in her home, her sanctuary and source of income. She regained her confidence and no longer fears leaving her house. Even more, she inspires other women in her village to speak out and seek help too. In Uganda, two sisters were home alone until a family friend snuck in and abused one of the 9-year-old girls. Upon returning home, their father saw him running away from the house and immediately called the police. With IJM’s legal team by their side, the family found the strength to walk through the trial together.
