What does hope look like in one of the hardest places to live? In Jubaland, Somalia’s southern region, years of conflict, drought and flooding have forced millions of people from their homes. Families are navigating unimaginable challenges with strength, and with your support, we’re walking alongside them. Together with our partners @lwfkenyasomalia , we’ve launched our longest-running project in Somalia, continuing through 2026. Our focus is increasing access to: • Clean water • Shelter items • Mental health and trauma support This work is part of a larger regional response reaching more than 100,000 people across Somalia, Ethiopia and South Sudan. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our Canadian Lutherans, the support of Global Affairs Canada (@canadadev) and our partners on the ground @lutheranworldfederation World Federation. Programs like this, aren’t just about survival, it’s about building a future with dignity, safety and possibility. Stay with us as we share stories from the ground and the impact we’re building, together. #HumanitarianAid #FaithInAction #GAC #CLWR #LWF 📸: LWF Somalia 1: Community members participate in an inclusive engagement session in Dhobley district, Somalia (2025), supported by CLWR and LWF, to promote child rights and create safer spaces for women and children. 2: On World Water Day 2025, LWF staff met with students and community members at New Waamo Primary School, one of several LWF-supported schools, in Kismayo, Somalia, to raise awareness about clean water and sustainability. The event highlighted students’ role in water conservation and celebrated local efforts to improve access to safe water. (fb)
For the last six years, the GRIT project has provided life-changing technical and vocational training for Palestinian women, including women with disabilities. With your support these women learn skills like pottery, carpentry, graphic design, computer programing or culinary arts. The training they receive means they have a better chance of finding meaningful employment and financial independence. This week we marked the conclusion of GRIT with an event in Ramallah, and we were grateful that Graham Dattels, the Canadian Representative to the Palestinian Authority (Representative Office of Canada to the Palestinian Authority ) could join us to see the lasting impact this project has had. With your support, and funding from the Government of Canada, 3,656 women received training through the project. Now 74% of employed graduates are able to earn a living wage! We’re thankful for the many partnerships that have made this work possible: The Lutheran World Federation Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada The Palestinian Ministry Of Labor - وزارة العمل الفلسطينية and our partner TVET institutes throughout West Bank and Eat Jerusalem. Your gift to CLWR makes you a partner with displaced and foodinsecure people as they develop solutions that last so all people can live in peace with dignity and hope.
