York West Active Living Centre

The York West Active Living Centre (YWALC) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults aged 55 and older. Located in Toronto, Ontario, YWALC's mission is to promote, encourage, and support healthy, independent living through a variety of innovative health and wellness programs, educational workshops, and multicultural activities.

Programs and Services

YWALC offers over 70 different programs designed to enhance the overall health and well-being of older adults. These include:

• Physical Fitness Programs: Bellydance, Bone Builders, Yoga, Line Dancing, Zumba, Open Circuit Workout, and Drum Fitness.
• Social Activities: Spanish, English, and Italian language classes, Bridge, Bingo, Karaoke, and Knit & Stitch.
• Health Clinics: Diabetes management, foot care, hearing assessments, massage therapy, reflexology, and a Low Vision Support Group.

Multilingual Support

YWALC provides services in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Italian, ensuring that a diverse range of community members can access its programs.

Community Engagement

The centre collaborates with various community partners to provide additional resources and support, such as mental health services and fraud prevention workshops. It is recognized for its efforts to reduce social isolation and enable seniors to age independently in their own homes.
