Thank you for giving patients the answers they need! Nancy Korte, technologist supervisor with the hospital's Anatomic Pathology Lab, stands with a new autostainer, made possible by donors like you. The machine has multiple uses for cancer testing. One test enables the lab to locate specific DNA sequences. It detects many types of cancer but is most often used for sarcomas, brain cancers, and lymphomas. These tests previously had to be sent to the USA or other Canadian labs, at great expense and taking weeks for results to be returned. Now pathologists can have the results within a day or two and diagnosis made in a matter of days! (fb)
