Dear educators, social workers, and mental health professionals, 📌Sharing a resource for your consideration. After having attended the eye-opening presentation "Gender-Based Violence & Engaging Men and Boys" last week, presented by predominantly male feminist allies and trailblazers, we gained hope and excitement for a brighter future, where we work for change alongside each other. We recommend this upcoming FREE, virtual event: Debunking the Manosphere and Preventing Incel Radicalization: Insights + Learning Tools. (fb)
To follow up on our post about breast cancer screening and mammograms, let’s talk about how we can take care of ourselves and our health at home by KNOWING OUR OWN BODIES! 🌸This is often referred to as Breast Self-awareness.🌸 The concept of Breast Self-awareness is to explore, touch and look at your breasts every now and then, with the goal of becoming comfortable with how they usually look and feel. This understanding of what your “normal” looks like is what’s most powerful in terms of caring for your health. Some things to notice and learn about your breasts are: - Their size and shape. Are they symmetrical or not (asymmetry is totally common, by the way!) What do they look like when you have your hands on your hips versus up in the air? - The nipple. What colour and size are they? Are one or both naturally inverted, or not? - The different textures within the breast. Remember, the inside of breasts naturally feel like there’s something in there… because there is! - How your breasts feel at different moments throughout your menstrual cycle. Some things that may indicate red flags if they are not within your “normal”: - A hard lump that wasn’t there before, does not change with phases of your cycle, and does not get smaller with time. - The skin on your breasts changes: it might pucker, retract, form dimples, of carry a persistent and widespread redness. - The nipple suddenly becomes inverted or seems to pull inwards. - There is unusual liquid coming from the nipple. Our territory is the 05 administrative region and covers a distance of 80 kilometers in every direction from our location in Lennoxville. Need some help.
