Activity Blankets Needed - Please share! Create activity blankets for people living with dementia We’re looking for volunteers to create and donate activity blankets (also called fidget blankets, fidget quilts, touch quilts) to support people living with dementia. These sensory blankets can provide comfort, reduce anxiety, and offer gentle stimulation through simple, repetitive movements, occupying nervous or fidgety hands, providing a sense of comfort through touch and sight. 🧶 What to include? Designs should be person-centred – we encourage adult-friendly themes like: fishing, music, gardening, pets & animals, sewing, cooking & baking, tools & workshop, sports, etc. 🎨 Materials & Ideas: The possibilities are endless. Use a variety of textures and colours like cotton, flannel, denim, sequins, faux fur and securely attach embellishments like: buttons, zippers, ribbons & lace, bells, buckles, rings, pockets/envelopes, small stuffed animals or dolls, toy combs/hairbrushes or hairdryers, crochet pieces, or rubber fidget pieces. Not only are these blankets meaningful to the people who receive them, they’re also rewarding to make.
