To celebrate the reopening of the spa room, a small ribbon cutting ceremony was held — and resident Fred, who lives with Huntington’s, was thrilled to do the honours and be the first to check it out. 🥰 Specialized tubs reduce the risk of falls compared to standard bathtubs, making bath time not only safer but also a more enjoyable experience for all. Adjustable lighting and a soon-to-be-installed mural will enhance the spa room and provide a sense of calm and relaxation. Thanks to Eldercare donors, the Gorge Road Health Centre patio is now a welcoming oasis adorned with garden beds, flowers, new furniture, and sun umbrellas. 🌺🌸🌼 “It’s hard to put into words what this means to me,” said one patient at a patio party earlier this August. “I just love being outside. Having the opportunity to come out here as I wish gives me a new lease on life.” Another patient said: “I get to show my son the flowers that I planted!” As we head into September, the flowers continue to bloom says Tracey Leslie, a Recreation Therapist at Gorge Road. “So many folks are still talking about and using the garden while saying how wonderful it is to have such a beautiful space! More patients and families have been engaged with taking care of the garden beds, watering, enjoying the herbs and having their visits outside.
