On April 25, we honor the 10th anniversary of Christine Stewart’s passing. With her husband David and Father Tim Coughlan, she established Horizons of Friendship to uplift the disadvantaged in Central America and Mexico. Serving as Executive Director until 1988, her visionary guidance laid the foundation for our organization’s lasting success. (fb)
Migrant workers have already started to arrive, and we are prepared. For the past two seasons, our program coordinator Bessie Hodder has graciously used her personal vehicle to visit farms across Northumberland County to check on workers, deliver supplies, welcome packages and food, and transport workers to appointments or community events. This year, we have purchased a roomier used van that is more accommodating to the needs of the Migrant Worker Outreach Program, also preventing further wear and tear on Bessie’s car. Thank you to the friendly folks at Grafton Automotive for providing us with the opportunity to support workers more efficiently! (fb)
