Prevention Specialist at WAHA As part of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Wellness Program, the Prevention Specialist plays an important role in promoting health and chronic disease prevention throughout Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Peawanuck. 💡 What is a Prevention Specialist? This role focuses on sharing information about how to reduce the risk of chronic conditions including but not limited to cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes. Emily helps with: ✅ Health assessments ✅ Providing screening information ✅ Supporting healthy goal-setting Prevention Specialists work closely with local organizations, the Regional Cancer Program, and Ontario Health Teams to help build a more connected and inclusive healthcare system. They also collaborates with community leaders and members to identify what health topics matter most in supporting community wellness. 💬 How Does This Benefit Community Members? By supporting health education, early detection, and personalized preventative care, the Prevention Specialist empowers community members to take control of their health. The role aims to improve access to care and promote long-term wellness throughout the region. 📩 Have questions?
