Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College

The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) is a private Canadian chiropractic education institution, established in 1945. It is located in North York, Toronto, and awards the Doctor of Chiropractic degree under ministerial consent from the provincial Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The college's name honors Daniel David Palmer, a Canadian who is credited with founding chiropractic in 1895[4].

Research and Development

CMCC has a robust research agenda with various specialized centers, including those focused on the biomechanics of treatment and outcomes, as well as health policy and patient access to treatment. In 2012, CMCC collaborated with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) to open the Centre for Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation[1]. The college also offers an elective research project for students with a special interest in research. Its campus includes advanced research facilities such as a Biomechanics and Elastography Laboratory and a Cellular and Molecular Biology and Histology Laboratory[1].

Patient Care and Clinical Education

CMCC provides clinical services to the Greater Toronto Area through its Division of Clinical Education, operating five clinics open to the public. Additionally, it has an expanded presence at the Family Health Team clinic, part of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital since 2012[1].

Notable Alumni

Among its notable alumni are Josh Binstock (Olympic volleyball player), Colin Carrie (politician), Gary Goodyear (politician), Coby Iwaasa (World Champion racquetball player), and Derek Porter (Olympic Champion and World Champion rower)[1].

Library and Academic Resources

The CMCC Health Sciences Library has evolved significantly since the college's inception in 1945. Initially, it started with just a few books in a makeshift space. Today, it serves as a central hub of intellectual life for students and faculty, providing comprehensive resources for chiropractors and other healthcare professionals[5].
