Today is National PTSD Awareness Day — a time to raise our collective voice in support of those impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder. 🧠 PTSD is a complex mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing trauma. It affects people from all walks of life, but the risk is not equal. Racialized immigrants, refugees, low-income individuals, and those with chronic health conditions often face greater barriers to care and support. Today is also a day to honour the resilience, strength, and courage of those who have had to leave their homes in search of safety, dignity, and a better future. Rebuilding a life in a new country goes far beyond the basics — emotional challenges like trauma, stress, loneliness, and anxiety often remain unseen. That’s why we’re proud to spotlight the work of Savyn, an OBI portfolio company from the 2023 NERVE cohort. Founded by a refugee and shaped by lived experience, Savyn is a digital mental health platform designed specifically for refugees and newcomers living with PTSD. By offering clinically proven, culturally sensitive coping strategies, Savyn helps users manage symptoms - anytime, anywhere. 💻 The platform is available at no cost, stigma-free, and accessible in English, Arabic, Spanish, and French, with support in additional languages as needed. Savyn also partners with organizations like FCJ Refugee Centre, Sakeenah Canada, CAMH, the Syrian Canadian Foundation, and many more to drive community impact.
