Small Gods 10.16.’25 - 12.14.’25 We’re excited to announce the opening of Small Gods featuring works by Steven Cottingham, Serena Lee, Weaver, Kevin Sudeith, and Forensic Architecture. Small Gods considers the drone—as violent machine, mythic being, eye of god, ancestral technology, and resident of our speculative futures. “Veiled by the thickness of the air, the drone appears from the ground to be a smudge, a void, or nothing at all. This is a story about seeing as violence.” Join us on Thursday, October 16th from 6 to 9 pm for the opening of Small Gods, with artists in attendance. Curator’s remarks at 7 pm. (fb)
We’re excited to announce the first instalment of PARCEL, a digital anthology considering Access Gallery’s place as a cultural venue at the crossroads of multiple histories, neighbourhoods, and waterways. In 2023, we invited artists and writers to consider our layered role as an artist-run centre in Chinatown. Our first offering, a poem by Kitty Cheung (@kitscatastrophe), follows elders through Chinatown’s changing food landscape, lingering in the cash-only cafés that serve as sites of connection. Kitty Cheung (she/她) is a Cantonese Canadian writer living and creating on unceded Katzie, Tsawwassen, Stó:lō, W̱SÁNEĆ, and Kwantlen land. Her work explores themes of cultural identity, immigrant family dynamics, and belonging within the Asian diaspora. Her writing has been published in SAD Mag, Ricepaper Magazine, and Best Canadian Poetry. She has trained in writing cohorts such as Arts Club’s LEAP, the frank theatre company’s Telling It Bent, and Centre A’s Arts Writing Mentorship. Kitty has also performed poetry at the IGNITE! Youth Arts Festival, Under the Table, and APTPOP Poetry Floodlight. She completed her studies in Interactive Arts & Technology and World Literature at Simon Fraser University. Kitty finds solace in zebra pens and drag shows. PARCEL is made possible through the generous support of Canada Council for the Arts and the Hamber Foundation. (fb)
