📚 Join the Elderberries and the Youth Project for a poetry workshop called “Finding Your Voice!” This program will take place on Tuesday, October 21st from 6-8pm, and we’ll be meeting in Room 301 at the Halifax Central Library. ✏️ During this workshop we will explore the practice of making poetry and examine the powerful role poetry has played across time and movements within our communities. 🌈 This is an intergenerational program for youth ages 14-25 and members of the Elderberries. Come as you are, no previous experience needed! Join us for snacks, community and creative process :) 📌 Registration is not required, but it is suggested! You can find a link to the Registration Form via the Linktree in our bio. Access Notes: ♿️ The Central Library is wheelchair accessible, with a ground level entrance on Spring Garden Road, and a ramp entrance on Queen Street. The automatic entrances, passageways, and elevators are wide. There is a single-stall, all-gender washroom on each floor, equipped with a wide automatic entrance, grab bar, and sharps bin. 😷 We are committed to providing the most accessible program for all participants, which means we will be upholding a mask mandate at all of our in-person programs! 📸 Image Description: A square graphic promoting an upcoming Poetry Workshop with the Youth Project and the Elderberries. The graphic has a solid, dark green background, with a thick, wavy rainbow along its right edge. In the top left portion, large white text reads “Finding Your Voice: A Poetry Workshop.” Below, smaller text reads “with the Elderberries and the Youth Project!” In the centre left of the graphic, a block of text lists the date, time, and location for the workshop, which reads: “Tuesday, October 21st. 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Halifax Central Library (Room 301).” In the bottom of the graphic, there are illustrations of two stacks of books. The books are coloured in shades of red, pink, green, and white, and they all have titles of various queer stories written on their spines, such as “Heartstopper” and “The Magic Fish.” (fb)
🍂 Join us at our October Programs! 🍂 Since October is Mi’kmaq History Month, this month’s programming will incorporate some fun, Indigenized learning opportunities (including Indigenous-designed games for Game Night, and Indigenous art, stories and crafts available at Craft Night)! Each program will also open with a conversation challenging and expanding our ideas around decolonization and solidarity. We encourage you to check out the recent Mi’kmaq History Month slide deck and story highlight on our page too! 🪶 Our programs are for 2SLGBTQIAP+ youth ages 12 to 25, unless otherwise specified. 📬 Feel free to send us a DM or email us at kay@youthproject.ns.ca with any questions or to let us know you’ll be there; but pre-registration is not required for attendance, unless otherwise specified. 🔎 For folks who have trouble reading the slides, there is a complete list of upcoming programs in the comment section. We hope to see you there! Access Notes: 😷 The Youth Project is committed to providing the most accessible programs possible for all participants, meaning that we will be upholding a mask mandate at all of our in-person programs. ♿️ Alderney Library, Wonder’neath, the AGNS, and the Central Library are accessible via ground floor entry with automatic doors. (Power House is not accessible via ground floor, but it has a lift! Similarly, Glitter Bean has no ground floor access, but it has a wooden ramp). They all have at least one gender-neutral, wheelchair accessible washroom with a grab bar and sharps bin. 🔗 You can find more detailed Access Guides for our program spaces through the Linktree in our bio, under the “October at the YP” collection. If you have more questions about the accessibility of our programming, please feel free to contact us! 📸 Image descriptions for these slides are available in the alt text of the post. (fb)
