🍂 Memory Lane: Kokanee Salmon Spawning 🐟🍁 Most school years, our students take part in a special tradition — witnessing the incredible journey of the Kokanee salmon spawning at Kokanee Creek. Last year, we gathered at the Kokanee Creek Nature Centre, where we were treated to a musical play that beautifully explained the salmon's life cycle — from freshwater to lake and back again. 🎭🌊 Afterward, we followed a guide to the creek, where we stood in awe as salmon rushed upstream, determined to find the perfect spot to spawn. It was a powerful reminder of resilience and the rhythms of nature. To deepen our learning, our guide showed us real male and female Kokanee salmon up close — and even conducted a dissection, revealing the inner workings of these amazing creatures and the differences between sexes. ❄️ Memory Lane: Snowy Hike to Nakusp Hot Springs 🌨️🌿💦 One of the most unforgettable outdoor adventures two winters ago took us deep into the winter woods — a snowy hike to the Nakusp Hot Springs! We trekked through quiet, snow-covered forest trails, bundled up and full of excitement. As we reached the hot springs, the landscape transformed: a lush green meadow opened up, shrouded in steamy mist and the unmistakable scent of sulfur in the air — like stepping into another world. 🌫️♨️ After the hike, we took a well-earned dip in the warm pool while snow flakes fell all around us as we soaked in the magic of this natural wonder.
