Mission

The foundation is dedicated to improving animal welfare, particularly in cooperation with the Sunchild and O'Chiese First Nations. It focuses on rescuing dogs, cats, and other animals in need, providing temporary care through a network of volunteer foster homes until permanent placements are secured.

Operations

• Foster Home Network: Paws and Claws utilizes a system of foster homes to provide temporary care for animals until they are adopted. Volunteers open their homes to care for these animals.
• Spay/Neuter Program: The organization has implemented a spay/neuter campaign, especially significant on First Nations reserves where the animal population can grow exponentially due to lack of spaying and neutering. Since starting this program, they have spayed approximately three hundred dogs and cats.
• Transportation Services for Spay/Neuter: The foundation provides two-way transportation for dogs and cats from First Nations communities to be spayed/neutered when resources permit.

Programs

• Feral Cat Program: Paws and Claws also offers a program aimed at managing feral cat populations, reflecting their commitment to comprehensive animal care.
• Adoption Process: Prospective adopters can view available animals through the organization's social media platforms. A thorough application process is in place to ensure suitable placements for the animals.
