We are deeply disturbed by the violence and vandalism that took place following McMaster University’s Board of Governors principled rejection of divestment from Israel. This most recent incident is the latest in a troubling pattern of bullying and vandalism linked to the campaign for divestment. It is clear—these campaigns are rooted in hate and directly responsible for the ongoing targeting and intimidation of the Jewish campus community. We commend McMaster University for standing firm in the face of intimidation and for asserting that it will not pursue a policy of divestment. There is no room for hate on campus, and Hillel will work to ensure that those who violate this core value be held accountable by university leadership. (fb)
