We awarded Centennial Secondary School in Belleville, ON, a scholarship to help them stage a recent production of The Little Mermaid Jr., and they crushed it! "Thanks to your contribution, this project grew into a powerful opportunity for learning, connection, and community engagement. In total, 67 individuals directly benefited from this scholarship, including 20 dedicated Vocal Arts students, 27 enthusiastic Musical Theatre students, and a 20-member Ensemble that supported the production behind the scenes and on stage. Beyond these participants, the ripple effect of The Little Mermaid Jr. extended into the broader community in meaningful ways. "Over the course of several performances, we proudly welcomed approximately 2,800 students and their supervisors from local elementary schools to experience the magic of live theatre and music. For many of these young students, this was their first exposure to a live musical production. Through school performances for elementary students, we introduced hundreds of young learners to the joy of singing and theatre. We hope this early exposure inspires many of them to one day join our vocal program at Centennial Secondary School, continuing the cycle of musical growth and appreciation that Sing Canada Harmony so passionately supports. Seeing older students confidently performing on stage sparked excitement and curiosity about vocal music and performing arts, planting the seeds for the next generation of singers and performers. In addition, over 1,000 community members filled our auditorium to celebrate the hard work and talent of our students." (fb)
