Centre de Diffusion 3D
The Centre de Diffusion 3D (CDD3D) is a Canadian nonprofit organization based in Montreal, Quebec. Established in 1987, the organization is dedicated primarily to the promotion and diffusion of contemporary sculpture and related contemporary art practices. It operates under the business registration number 118845627RR0001.
Mission and Activities
The primary mandate of Centre de Diffusion 3D is the publication of Espace magazine, a periodical that focuses on contemporary sculpture and aims to promote this artistic discipline within a broader cultural dialogue. Over the years, Espace has evolved to encompass a wider range of contemporary art forms linked to spatiality, including installation art and other multidisciplinary practices. This evolution is reflected in the magazine's visual branding, which shifted emphasis from sculpture alone to the broader concept of "space," acknowledging the diversity and fluidity of current art forms[1][5].
In addition to publishing Espace, the Centre de Diffusion 3D organizes and participates in a variety of contemporary art events. It collaborates with like-minded organizations through partnerships to develop exhibitions, conferences, symposiums, roundtables, and essay publications. These activities not only facilitate exchanges of information but also stimulate discussions around the evolving status of art in a dynamic cultural landscape[1][5].
Key Exhibitions and Projects
Throughout its history, the CDD3D has been involved in numerous significant exhibitions and projects, including:
- Femmes sculpteurs au Québec at the Centre d’art CIRCA in 2004.
- Jumelages: l’espace et son double, featuring eight Montreal artists, shown across seven cultural centers in the Montreal area from 2006 to 2007.
- L’Odyssée d’Espace at Maison de la Culture Plateau-Mont-Royal in 2012, celebrating the 100th issue and 25th anniversary of Espace magazine.
- Espaces utopiques: prospection et projection in 2013 at Maison de la Culture Côte-des-Neiges[1].
From 2001 to 2007, the organization also oversaw the "Centre d’art public," a subsidiary dedicated to organizing public exhibitions, further extending its outreach in public art presentation[1].
Leadership
Since December 2013, Espace magazine has been under the direction of André-Louis Paré, a long-time contributor and editorial committee member since 1994. Under his leadership, the publication has embarked on a new cycle, maintaining its historic roots in sculpture while embracing evolving contemporary art practices[1][5].
Organizational Information
Registered as a charitable organization, Centre de Diffusion 3D operates as a nonprofit entity in the arts and culture sector, recognized by Canadian authorities. Its activities contribute significantly to the cultural life of Montreal and the broader contemporary art community in Canada[2][3].
The Centre de Diffusion 3D remains a vital institution for the dissemination, discussion, and celebration of contemporary sculpture and spatial art forms, fostering artistic dialogues that reflect ongoing changes in the cultural environment.

➝ https://espaceartactuel.com/appel/ [en] « This spring issue will be about light, natural or artificial, and its mobilization within sculptural, urban, performative, or scenographic works. What mysterious power enables light to both reveal and blur our perception of space and time? How does it come into play to shape ambiences, situations, and environments? In what ways is it linked to shadow and opacity? Often associated with security, how does it fit into different surveillance and law-enforcement regimes? It also bears the potential for playfulness; how does it help to generate enchantment, surprise, or amusement? Although, as Jonathan Crary pointed out in 24/7 (2013), the development of natural-gas and electric lighting was part of the capitalist project to extend hours of production, what relationship does light retain with the creation of value? And how can we use it responsibly in a context of climate crisis and biodiversity decline? These questions may be explored through research on recent works in which light plays an important role. » ➝ If you wish to participate in this issue, submit your proposal before 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝐫𝐝, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 You will then have until 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 to submit your full text➝ https://espaceartactuel.com/en/call/ (fb)
