History

Nepal House Society was established to address the pressing issues faced by children in Nepal, a country grappling with poverty, natural disasters, political instability, family trauma, and abuse. In 2013, Nepal House Kaski began to support incarcerated boys, many of whom were as young as 10 years old and were imprisoned for crimes largely linked to dire poverty or mental health issues. Following the devastating Nepal Earthquake in 2015, Nepal House Society mobilized funds to provide immediate relief in the form of water, food, and shelter. Additionally, staff and volunteers worked on rebuilding a small village of 26 homes in the Gorkha District that were destroyed by the earthquake, demonstrating the organization's commitment to community rebuilding and support.

In 2018, the organization expanded its services by extending counseling support to adults, including the parents of the children at the school. This move recognized the importance of family support in creating a stable environment for children's growth and healing.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Nepal House Society stepped up to provide essential food supplies to families, as the economic lockdown severely impacted the livelihoods of day laborers who relied on daily income. The same year, the society hosted its first international "Hike for Healing," raising $42,000 to support staff salaries at Nepal House Kaski.

As of 2023, Nepal House Society and Nepal House Kaski celebrated 15 years of service, marking a milestone in their dedication to providing essential support to children and families in Nepal.

Programs and Services

Nepal House Society supports children by covering their yearly school fees and providing uniforms, ensuring they have access to education. The organization also offers ongoing counseling support as needed. At Nepal House in Kaski, children receive a comprehensive package of services including education, meals, uniforms, and therapy.
