On Friday, May 2, at the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐅𝐍𝐌𝐈 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 hosted by the 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒) in Edmonton, three members of our team—Jamie Chalifoux, Connie Sabo, and Brennan McDonald—took the stage as keynote speakers. Their presentation, “𝘈 𝘛𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦,” highlighted the powerful collaboration between our Indigenous Education Team and school hot lunch programs. By integrating Indigenous knowledge and traditional practices into school meals, students are given the opportunity to help prepare traditional food sources, such as bison, for school lunches. 🦬 Their session drew a full room of engaged participants, many of whom stayed afterward to ask questions and learn more about how they might bring similar initiatives to their own divisions. We’re proud to see our 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 being recognized at the provincial level. Well done, team! (fb)
