Horne’s latest exhibition — now on in Berlin — exposes the devastating impact of industrial fishing bycatch, a hidden crisis driving biodiversity loss. The immersive exhibition showcases haunting, large-scale acrylic paintings of marine species ensnared in discarded fishing nets, paired with Ecojustice insights on the urgent need for ocean conservation and bottom trawling regulation. In partnership with Ecojustice, the three-month show also sheds light on another unfolding ecological emergency — the plight of the last 73 Southern Resident Killer Whales. Industrial projects like the Trans Mountain Expansion and Roberts Bank Terminal 2 are increasing large vessel traffic in the Salish Sea, B.C., increasing noise pollution, preventing foraging, and heightening the risk of catastrophic oil spills.
