Our South Coast Conservation Field Crew spotted this beautiful four-spotted skimmer while doing work on The Nature Trust of BC's Camp Slough conservation area 🌿 These dragonflies can be found by ponds, wetlands, and slow flowing rivers. The four spots on their wings, along with their brown colour make them distinguishable. In their adult stage, the insect primarily feeds on mosquitos, gnats and midges, whereas the larvae mostly eat other aquatic insect larvae and tadpoles. ℹ️ iNaturalist (fb)

In the spring, you might spot adorable fawns throughout British Columbia 🦌🌸 Many of The Nature Trust of BC's many conservation areas provide vital habitat for wildlife like deer, especially those that protect crucial grassland ecosystems. This fawn in particular was spotted at our Vaseux Lake conservation area 🌾 Remember, seeing a fawn on its own doesn't mean it has been orphaned — Mom is likely nearby and will return for her baby at dawn or dusk. Give the fawn space, and don't touch it to avoid any undue distress! If the fawn is injured, following you, wandering and crying, lying on its side, or has been unmoved for 24 hours, alert your local wildlife rehabilitation centre. (fb)
