Carleton Place Public Library
The Carleton Place Public Library is a nonprofit community organization (Registration No. 118838887RR0001) serving residents of Carleton Place, Ontario. Located in the town’s downtown core, it provides free access to physical and digital resources, including books, media, and educational materials for all age groups.
History and Operations
Established as a public institution, the library supports literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement through its collections, programs, and services. It offers public computers, Wi-Fi, meeting spaces, and specialized services such as homebound delivery for patrons unable to visit in person.
Programs and Services
The library hosts regular events, including book clubs, crafting circles, and seasonal activities. Notable programs include a Seed Library initiative, which distributes seeds to encourage gardening, and a Cookbook Book Club where participants share recipes. It also provides passes for free admission to local museums, parks, and recreational facilities.
Digital Resources
Patrons can access e-books, audiobooks, and streaming services through platforms like Hoopla, though the library has implemented daily budget caps on Hoopla circulations as of April 2025 to manage operational costs.
Community Role
As an educational and cultural hub, the library emphasizes inclusivity, offering tailored programs for teens and adults, such as the Queer Sphere Crafting Circle, a monthly safe-space gathering for youth aged 12–16. It collaborates with local organizations for events like Pumpkinfest and holiday-themed workshops.

You're never too young--or too old--to create an Estate Plan. Even if you think you don't have an "estate" to divide up, having no plan at all is actually a plan. The default plan may be determined by the laws of your province or territory--and that's not something you want your loved ones to have to deal with in the face of a crisis. If you've had questions but didn't want to feel pressured to make an appointment with a financial planner, this is a great way to begin your exploration and find out everything you've been curious to learn. Join us on Saturday, May 24 when Anna Vynnyk from Edward Jones will join us, along with Estate Lawyer Juliia Shulawkewych and Real Estate Agent Nataliia Mynyk, to talk about why you need an Estate Plan and how to go about making one. This session will last about 50 minutes and will go through many different scenarios that will touch on various aspects regarding Estates and will allow for plenty of time for questions afterward. Please take a moment to let us know you'll be attending by calling us at 613-257-2702, ext. 6502, or calling Heidi at hsinnett@carletonplace.ca. Light refreshments will be served. This is not a sales session--it's purely an information session that will allow you to ask questions and determine your next steps if you'd like to create an Estate Plan. It's for the curious and the concerned alike--join us to find out more information to allow you to make informed decisions for you and your entire family. (fb)
