The Whole Dyslexic Society
The Whole Dyslexic Society is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the understanding and awareness of dyslexia. It is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) under the business number 852190933RR0001.
Purpose and Mission
The society's mission is to provide a coordinated approach to addressing the needs of dyslexic individuals, their families, and communities. It focuses on creating a supportive environment that fosters accelerated learning, healing, education, social interaction, and personal growth. The organization emphasizes neuroinclusivity in education, advocating for learning strategies that honor each individual's innate learning style.
Approach and Programs
The Whole Dyslexic Society is unique in addressing the underlying causes of learning challenges associated with dyslexia rather than focusing solely on symptoms. It advocates for evidence-based programs designed to empower individuals to reach their full potential. Key methods include the Davis Dyslexia Method, which is supported by licensed facilitators within the organization.
Leadership and Activities
The society was founded by Sue Hall, a licensed Davis Dyslexia Method Facilitator and author. Other notable directors include Paddy Carson, Julie Brewer, Nadine Schumont, and Tristan Macdonald, each contributing diverse expertise and experiences. The organization engages in various activities, such as producing documentaries like "WHO KNEW: Dyslexia is a Way of Thinking" to raise awareness and funds for supporting dyslexic individuals.
Awareness and Advocacy Efforts
The society organizes events and campaigns to promote understanding and inclusion of dyslexic individuals. Notable initiatives include the "Walk and Talk the DYS out of Dyslexia" campaign, which aims to remove the stigma associated with learning differences by focusing on the strengths of dyslexic thinking.
Vision and Impact
The Whole Dyslexic Society envisions a future where every dyslexic individual can reach their full potential without being labeled as having a learning disability. By advocating for cognitive equal opportunities and promoting inclusive learning environments, the organization strives to empower dyslexic individuals to recognize their unique strengths and talents.

Celebrating our documentary WHO KNEW Dyslexia is a Way of Thinking An enormous thank you to all those who came to the Premiere on Sunday March 9 all those who bid for our auction items and all those who supported this incredible achievement. This event went beyond our wildest dreams and our Special Edition March Newsletter is HERE for you to share in the excitement. We raised 2800 for our program sponsorship fund so we extend this thank you to come from those we can support in the future. We remain dedicated to ensuring that children and adults are able to learn in the way they were born to learn rather than the way the education system thinks they should learn.
