B'nai Brith of Canada Foundation
The B'nai Brith of Canada Foundation is a Canadian nonprofit organization and the fundraising arm of B'nai Brith Canada, the country's oldest Jewish human rights and service organization. Registered under the business number 814122396RR0001, the Foundation plays a critical role in supporting the ongoing commitments of B'nai Brith Canada to the Jewish community across the nation.
Background and Affiliation
The Foundation operates to financially sustain and enable the programs and initiatives of B'nai Brith Canada, a historic grassroots organization established in 1875. The parent organization is dedicated to eradicating racism, antisemitism, and hatred in all its forms, advocating for the rights of marginalized groups, and providing essential services to members of the Jewish community. B'nai Brith Canada is recognized as a vital voice for Jewish unity and continuity, a defender of the State of Israel and global Jewry, and a leader in combating hate and racism within Canada[1][4][5].
Mission and Activities
The B'nai Brith of Canada Foundation is instrumental in raising funds that support a wide array of social, educational, and human rights programs managed by B'nai Brith Canada. These programs include human rights advocacy through the League for Human Rights, justice initiatives, community engagement, sports activities, and outreach services such as seniors support. The Foundation's fundraising efforts allow the organization to maintain and expand its services, including the antihate hotline and seniors outreach centers aimed at improving the well-being of the Canadian Jewish community[4][5].
Historical Significance
B'nai Brith Canada, established initially with Lodge No. 246 in Toronto in 1875, has a long-standing history of community leadership and activism. It has served as the national independent voice for grassroots Jewish Canadians and has engaged community leaders and volunteers in combating antisemitism and other forms of bigotry throughout its history. The Foundation supports the continuation of these efforts by ensuring sustained financial resources to meet the evolving needs of Canadian Jewry[1][3].
Organizational Structure
While the Foundation focuses on fundraising, B'nai Brith Canada also includes various branches and committees dedicated to different aspects of community life and advocacy. The Foundation's role complements these by providing the essential financial underpinnings required for the organization's wide-ranging initiatives.
The B'nai Brith of Canada Foundation exemplifies a crucial component of one of Canada's most historic and active nonprofit Jewish organizations, ensuring the continuation and growth of programs that combat injustice while providing vital community support.

Two years have passed since the October 7th massacre—an event that forever changed lives in Israel and around the world. This year, join B’nai Brith Canada and our multicultural partners from across the country, as we come together for a national moment of reflection, remembrance, and solidarity at the special virtual screening of B’nai Brith Canada’s powerful documentary, Shattered Voices. Produced in 2024, this film explores the far-reaching impact of October 7th on Canadians from coast to coast. Through deeply personal stories, it captures the heartbreak and hope, fear and resilience, of those Canadians whose lives and communities were shaken. B’nai Brith Canada extends our deepest condolences to the Manchester Jewish community, and to the families of those murdered and injured in this morning’s horrific attack outside a synagogue on Yom Kippur. This tragedy did not occur in a vacuum. Hate-motivated violence is never the first step—it follows clear precursors. When incitement is tolerated, when politicians and leaders create or allow a permissive environment, they lay the stage for such atrocities. Words matter. Rhetoric matters. The normalization of extremism fuels hate and violence. Today we see the devastating consequences. B’nai Brith Canada stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in Manchester and with all those who refuse to accept hate as inevitable. We call on political leaders, here in Canada and around the world, to confront incitement at its roots, before it escalates into deadly violence. (fb)
