This powerful machine will be a game-changer for our groundskeeping volunteers, helping them keep the 10-acre park site looking its very best all year long — from mowing grass in the summer to clearing snow in the winter to ensure safe site access. This new tractor purchase was made possible through contributions from the Province of Alberta’s Community Facility Enhancement Program, The City of Red Deer’s Community Recreation Enhancement Grant, and donations received from the Estate of Susan Eileen Deering and KeyAg Kubota Ltd. 🐔🏠 A heartfelt thank you to the incredibly talented 2nd Year Carpentry Class at Red Deer Polytechnic for crafting our beautiful new Chicken Coop! This isn’t just any coop—it’s a 1/2 scale replica of an early 20th-century Eaton Catalogue House, blending two historic designs from The T. Eaton Co. Limited’s "Plan Book of Ideal Homes: Homes designed for the West." The students combined the best of both worlds: 🔨 E10 - The Eatoncourt: A simple, economical 5-room classic beloved across the Prairies. 🔨 E38 - The Eavesham: Compact, elegant, and full of charm—an ideal home in every way. ✨ Both original plans featured a signature front verandah, now adorning our coop with vintage flair. Their craftsmanship and creativity brought history to life in the most charming way—and our chickens have never lived so well! 👏 A special shout-out to Instructor Larz Hirschkorn, whose guidance and mentorship helped bring this heritage-inspired project to life. Your leadership truly makes a lasting impact. 🚛 And a big thank you to Moore Maintenance for transporting the coop to its new home and ensuring it was installed perfectly.
