Park to Park Trail Association
The Park to Park Trail Association is a Canadian registered charity (Business Registration Number: 861071793RR0001) dedicated to maintaining a multi-use trail network spanning approximately 230 kilometres (140 mi) in central Ontario. The trails connect natural and cultural landmarks across municipalities, including Parry Sound, Seguin Township, and the Municipality of McMurrich/Monteith.

Trail network and usage
The association’s primary trail, the Seguin Trail, covers 80 km (50 mi) from Parry Sound to Kearney, following the historic route of the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway. This rail line, constructed in the late 19th century by timber magnate J.R. Booth, once transported lumber and grain between Algonquin Park and Georgian Bay. Contemporary trail users include hikers, cyclists, horseback riders, and off-road vehicles such as ATVs, snowmobiles, and dirt bikes, with certain sections restricted to non-motorized activities.

Ecological significance
The trail network passes through provincially significant wetlands that provide critical habitat for threatened species, including Blanding’s turtles and the Algonquin wolf (Canis lycaon), a threatened subspecies. The association encourages reporting sightings of these species to support conservation efforts.

Maintenance and advocacy
As a volunteer-driven organization, the association collaborates with local governments and partners to preserve trail accessibility while balancing ecological stewardship. It emphasizes sustainable use, offering paper maps sold to fund maintenance and ensure navigational reliability in remote areas with limited digital connectivity.

Historical context
The trails incorporate former colonization roads, urban pathways, and abandoned rail beds, reflecting the region’s logging and transportation history. Remnants of railway infrastructure, such as weathered ties and cleared corridors, remain visible along the Seguin Trail.
