We maintain a policy of accepting any cat adopted from our rescue if circumstances warrant it. This principle ensures that each cat's well-being remains a priority, no matter how situations evolve. Such is the case with Ginger, adopted in 2021 alongside her sibling. For four years both cats lived in harmony thriving in their home environment as cherished members of the family. However, this year Ginger began to exhibit redirected aggression toward her sister, triggered by the sight of another cat outside the home. Despite efforts from her family to resolve these behavioral changes and months of perseverance, Ginger's aggression escalated and persisted. Recognizing that Ginger's well-being was at stake, her family made the thoughtful responsible and heartbreaking decision to return her to the rescue. For this we are grateful. We hate to think of the alternatives they could have sought. By returning her, they ensured she would receive the attention and environment she needed and her sister was safe from her attacks. Once the external trigger was removed and all memories of it with her relocation Ginger’s true personality re-emerged. She has returned to her gentle and loving nature. She loves nothing more than a little ear scratch and pat. She definitely is more introverted and although is showing no signs of aggression, she really enjoys her quiet time in her own space. Sort of like an angsty teenager with younger siblings who just want to hangout with her ALL the time. I think she’d thrive in a home as the queen of the house, but she could definitely be in a home with another introverted cat.
