Carers Victoria estimates there are over 82,000 unpaid carers in the South East Melbourne electoral region. Last week, Judith Abbott had a virtual meeting with Ann-Marie Hermans MP, Upper House member for the region to discuss the realities facing carers, the areas where change is most needed, and the importance of recognising and supporting carers across the community. They also discussed the upcoming National Carers Week 2025, which will run from 12–18 October. The week is dedicated to celebrating the contribution of carers and raising awareness of the vital role they play.
