Kindred Spirits Enterprises
Kindred Spirits Enterprises is an Australian nonprofit organization and public charity dedicated to fostering social change and community wellbeing, primarily focused on the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland regions. Established in 2016, the organization operates with the mission to create thriving communities characterized by healthy and fulfilled individuals through collaborative social impact projects.[2][1]
History and Background
The charity originated from a community support foundation initiated by Rhonda Renwick, a local business owner in the Latrobe Valley. Early efforts included support for developing a native botanicals industry and collaboration with Aboriginal enterprises in northern Australia. Over time, Kindred Spirits Enterprises expanded its scope to include community-led initiatives such as literacy and reading programs, as well as environmental and social sustainability projects.[2][4]
Mission and Activities
Kindred Spirits Enterprises works closely with other nonprofit organizations and community groups to develop and support projects that address the unique challenges facing their communities. Their approach includes providing seed funding, funding strategy development, advocacy, and creating connections between projects and like-minded organizations to foster sustainable growth.[1]
Key initiatives supported by Kindred Spirits Enterprises include:
- The Little Village Project: A community-driven initiative aimed at enhancing local wellbeing through shared resources and support.
- Regen Gippsland: A sustainability and regeneration project focused on environmental and community resilience.
- The Shared Value Initiative: Focused on promoting good mental health in workplaces to improve both individual wellbeing and professional productivity.[1][3]
Engagement with Indigenous Enterprises
Kindred Spirits Enterprises has a history of working with Aboriginal corporations and Indigenous entrepreneurs, supporting their aspirations in industries such as native botanicals. This engagement reflects the organization's commitment to inclusive economic development and cultural respect.[4]
Community Impact
Through its partnerships and projects, Kindred Spirits Enterprises has contributed to improving lives across various demographics, creating opportunities for social and economic participation, and enhancing mental health awareness and support within workplaces and communities.[1][5]
Governance and Legal Status
Kindred Spirits Enterprises is registered as a public charity in Australia with the Australian Business Number (ABN) 12616133183RR0001. It operates under Australian charity regulations and maintains transparency and accountability through the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).[3]
Summary
Kindred Spirits Enterprises exemplifies a community-focused organization that leverages partnerships and innovative social projects to drive positive change. How do we grow a regenerative future in Gippsland? 🤔 That's the question our inspiring panel were eager to answer at this year's Gippsland New Energy Conference held at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre. Featuring our very own Alex Lieb representing 🌱 @REGEN Gippsland 🌱, she was joined by: 🔬 Systems thinker and researcher Alison Whiton from Regen Melbourne 🎬 Award-winning director Damon Gameau 🎤 Youth ambassador and musician Ruby Rodgers, who features in Damon's latest film 'Future Council Together, they brought their learnings from Europe and beyond to paint us a hopeful picture of how we can create a safe and just space for humanity in Gippsland. Our incredible audience also asked a host of great questions. In the coming days, we'll share our responses to these questions, as well as the questions we couldn't address during the panel, here and on the Regen Gippsland FB page. Thank you to those who attended the panel and the special film screening of Future Council ❤️ We hope you left feeling hopeful, inspired and ready to change the world, starting right here in Gippsland! We'll be sharing more from the conference, panel and film screening over the next week, so don't forget to check back. 🚨 By the way, if you haven't done so, make your way to the Regen Gippsland FB page and follow us there too to stay up to date on all the amazing regenerative work happening in Gippsland and beyond 🫶🏽 #gippslandnewenergyconference #gnec2025 #regengippsland #futurecouncil Gippsland Climate Change Network (fb)
The Little Village Project would not be where it is today without the early belief and backing of the Latrobe Health Assembly. Their support gave this grassroots idea the chance to grow and expand – and to secure the leadership of the project's founder, Ben Tunks, who had been volunteering his time while working as a wellbeing support officer at a Traralgon primary school. Soon after, AGL Loy Yang joined as another valued supporter and remains a proud partner of the project today. This continuity speaks to the strong foundations the Assembly helped us build. The project's impact so far 📚 Students supported: 225 🧑⚕️ Services provided: 821 This level of support was made possible thanks to the Assembly’s belief in the project from the beginning. We want to honour their incredible contribution, not just to the project, but to the Latrobe Valley. It has been a privilege for Kindred Spirits Enterprises to work alongside them. It will be a different space operating without the Assembly, but we will do our best to honour their legacy by ensuring The Little Village Project continues to support students and primary schools across Gippsland 💙 (fb)
