💙 🙌 Our Year 3’s Initiative For World Refugee Day 🙌 💙 On Thursday 19 June, Parklands students and staff came together in a meaningful act of empathy and support for our Recycled Clothing Fundraiser, led by our Year 3 students and inspired by their Design and Technologies unit. In recognition of World Refugee Day, staff and students embraced the opportunity to wear pre-loved clothing in exchange for a gold coin donation to raise awareness and show compassion for the challenges faced by refugees around the world. Together, we raised $175 for Great Southern Migrant Services, who will use the funds to provide food vouchers for newly arrived migrant families in our region. The initiative sparked rich conversations across classrooms and highlighted the importance of kindness, empathy and community. It was especially heartwarming to see students sharing the stories behind their clothing with their teachers and classmates. In week 7, the Albany Entertainment Centre came alive with young talent for the annual Albany Eisteddfod. Among the performers were 14 of our own Parklands students, each bravely stepping onto the stage alone to showcase the musical skills they’ve been honing over the past few months. With over 300 students from across the Great Southern taking part, we are incredibly proud of our Parklands musicians who performed to an exceptional standard and achieved excellent results. Congratulations to each of our performers, and to everyone who took part, for your dedication, courage and achievements.
