Community Connections Australia (CCA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing individualized and flexible support services to individuals living with disabilities, older people, and their families. Established in 1987, CCA has been a leader in the disability sector, focusing on enabling people to live independently in their chosen communities.
Services
CCA offers a broad range of services tailored to meet diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, cognitive or intellectual disabilities, sensory disabilities, physical disabilities, and degenerative illnesses. Their services span from in-home care to community-based support, available from a few hours a week up to full-time, 24-hour support on a short-term, long-term, or ad-hoc basis. This flexibility allows individuals to manage their life choices with autonomy.
Technological Innovations
CCA has pioneered innovative uses of technology to enhance accessibility. By establishing services like Jeenee Mobile and Tech Hubs, they have made everyday technology accessible to everyone, regardless of their disability level. This effort earned them international recognition with the Zero Project Award for Innovative Practice in Service Delivery in 2019.
NDIS Services
As a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service provider, CCA supports participants in navigating their plans and achieving their goals. They offer services across Greater Sydney, including the Nepean, Hawkesbury, Central Coast, and Wollongong regions.
Membership and Governance
CCA invites individuals to become members, allowing them to participate in the organization's governance. Members can vote at the Annual General Meeting and help elect the Board of Directors. Membership fees are affordable, with options for concession rates.
Philosophical Approach
CCA's core philosophy emphasizes the importance of community integration and independence. They believe that individuals should have the support they need to live where they choose, with full participation in their communities. This approach has guided CCA's service development for over three decades, adapting to changing needs and embracing innovation in service delivery.

Last month, The Hub was very excited to host our friends down the road, Side By Side Advocacy. Thanks to Ryan, Chris and David for running an incredible workshop building our understanding of who advocates are and what they can do. We learnt about three kinds of advocacy, professional, peer and self advocacy and the roles they can play in our lives. Some of our team have linked with Side by Side to join their Community for Everyone program, linking up with volunteers to help explore our interests and build relationships in our local community.
