Following their involvement in the 'Sea of Hearts' challenge during Reconciliation Week (led by Connecting the Dots through Culture), SDN Lady McKell, Goulburn felt inspired to continue this meaningful project by participating in their new challenge, #SeaOfFish for NAIDOC Week. 🖤💛❤️|💚🤍💙 Guided by the story 'Splosh for the Billabong' during their Yarning Circle, children explored themes of connection, unity, and respect through art. They decorated fish using recycled and natural materials such as feathers, dyed beans, pipe cleaners, and paint—symbolising the Australian, Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander flags. The 'Sea of Fish' display blossomed into a whole-centre collaboration, with families, educators, and children contributing their own fish creations—each representing appreciation, kindness, peace, and togetherness. 🐟 (fb)

For NAIDOC Week, our SDN Redfern early learning centre engaged in rich and intentional learning experiences throughout the week to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. 🖤💛❤️|💚🤍💙 Children explored the beauty and spirit of Uluru through sensory play, sparking early conversations about its importance to the Anangu people and the sacred Dreaming stories it carries. 💭 From our nature-inspired cubby house to the sensory tray filled with earthy textures, children explored what it means to connect with Country. Guided by Aboriginal ways of knowing, they learn that land is not just a space—it’s a living, breathing part of our history, spirit, and future. 🌅🌳 Through play, storytelling, and curiosity, we nurture values of community, sustainability, and cultural respect.
