At C&K Bundaberg South Community Kindergarten, we have been lucky to have our bush tucker expert, Dean Lillyman, visit us throughout Term 3, funded by Kindy Uplift 🫶🏾 The children loved exploring the garden with him, learning about the special plants we can eat, smell, and use in different ways. We added many of the plants, including lemon myrtle and river mint, to water to make healthy drinks for us to try. Dean opened an emu egg and cooked an emu omelette with the children, and we also tasted kangaroo meat. It has been wonderful to see the children tasting and touching different foods and asking thoughtful questions as they connect with nature and culture in a hands-on way 🪺🌿 Dean has also been teaching the children about koalas, kangaroos, kookaburras, and wombats through dance and story 🦘 Thank you so much Dean, for sharing your stories, knowledge of bush foods, and sparking lots of curiosity, excitement and JOY! 🤩 Are you looking for a quality kindergarten program for your child?
