It is noted that brain cancer kills more Australians under 40 than any other cancer, with only 2 in 10 people diagnosed surviving at least five years[3]. Mark and Professor Mike Fay, Director of the MHF Centre for Brain Cancer Research, recently hit the road to visit patients, carers, and medical teams across regional NSW. Over two big days, they travelled more than 1,000km from Newcastle to Tamworth, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. Along the way, they met with brain cancer patients and families who generously shared their stories and challenges. Mark also visited Tamworth High School and presented to year 11 and 12 about facing adversity and the importance of a positive mindset. These visits remind us just how personal every brain cancer journey is and how powerful it is to connect, listen and show people they’re not alone. They also highlight the vital work of Mike and our research teams across the country, who are pushing every day for better treatments and outcomes. Thanks to everyone who welcomed us with open arms (and beanies) in Tamworth and the Mid North Coast! (fb)
