History
Newcastle Grammar School traces its origins back to the establishment of Newcastle Boys' Grammar School in 1859 at Berkeley House. The school operated until 1902 when it closed. The institution returned to Newcastle in 1992 and is now governed by Newcastle Grammar School Limited. The modern institution also respects the heritage of Newcastle Church of England Girls' Grammar School, integrating both histories into its current identity.

Our Year 8 students began their Duke of Edinburgh International Award journey this week. With nearly 200 students registered across the school, the Duke of Edinburgh International Award is now the centrepiece of our Co-curricular program, promoting skill development, physical recreation, service, and adventurous journeys. Starting with the Bronze Award, Year 8 students will build a strong foundation, progressing through Silver and Gold levels in future years. This global development program provides a holistic approach enriched by Kurt Hahn's educational philosophy, which emphasises experiential learning, personal development and global citizenship. Kindergarten kicked off their new Inquiry unit, “From Paddock to Plate,” with an exciting excursion to Oakvale Farm—the perfect place to start exploring where our food and materials come from! Students enjoyed a tractor ride, met a variety of animals and reptiles, and even fed some adorable baby animals.
