Seafood and Maritime Training Inc., often referred to as SMT, is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vocational training to the Tasmanian seafood and maritime industries. Established in 1986 as the 'Fishing Industry Training Board of Tasmania', it evolved to become 'Seafood Training Tasmania' before rebranding as SMT in 2018 to reflect its broader scope and customer base.
Mission and Purpose
SMT focuses on delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training that combines hands-on practical experience with classroom education. The organisation prioritizes creating a learning environment that is conducive to effective skill development in small class sizes.
