Clergy Remuneration and Retirement Fund Catholic Diocese of Bathurst
The Clergy Remuneration and Retirement Fund Catholic Diocese of Bathurst (ABN 21 752 576 357, Registered Charity RR0001) is a nonprofit organisation supporting clergy members within the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, Australia. It primarily focuses on remuneration and retirement provisions for priests, ensuring financial stability for active and retired clergy who have dedicated their careers to ministry.
Activities and Purpose
The fund’s core activities include managing financial resources to support clergy welfare, particularly retirement planning and ongoing care for retired priests. It operates under religious activities, with a focus on providing for clergy who continue to minister or require assistance in later life. An annual Father’s Day appeal collects donations specifically for retired priests, acknowledging their lifelong service to the diocese. The organisation also facilitates planned giving, including wills and bequests, to sustain its mission.
Beneficiaries and Scope
The fund primarily serves current and retired clergy within the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst. Its support extends to priests who remain active in pastoral work post-retirement as health permits, as well as those requiring financial assistance for living and healthcare needs. The organisation emphasises community-driven support, encouraging parishioners to contribute through donations or legacy gifts.
Structure and Funding
As a registered charity, the fund relies on donations, special collections, and bequests to fulfill its objectives. It operates under the governance of the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst’s administrative structures, ensuring compliance with religious and nonprofit regulations. Financial transparency is maintained through standard charity reporting practices, though detailed operational governance is not publicly documented.

Peter’s Pence: A Global Sign of Solidarity Appeal This Weekend On Sunday 29 June, the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, parishes across the Diocese of Bathurst will join the universal Church in supporting the Peter’s Pence Appeal. This annual appeal expresses our solidarity with the mission of Pope Leo, helping to fund charitable works that bring assistance to the most vulnerable around the world—those affected by poverty, conflict, natural disaster, displacement, and marginalisation. It also supports initiatives promoting peace, education, and integral human development. Peter’s Pence is more than a financial appeal; it’s a gesture of communion with the Holy Father and the worldwide Church. The Vatican describes it as “an offering that may be small but has a profound symbolic value: it expresses love and trust for the Holy Father … a tangible gesture of closeness”. A short video from the Holy See explaining the mission and impact of Peter’s Pence is available to view here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWVOZYHqmf8 To make a contribution, you can donate online via our Diocesan website at https://bathurst.catholic.org.au/peters-pence-a-global-sign-of-solidarity-appeal-this-weekend/ or scan the QR code available at your parish. Let us continue to pray for Pope Leo and all who serve the Gospel throughout the world. (fb)
