𝗗𝗢𝗡'𝗧 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗘𝗥 By : Pastor Scott Priest Keep our eyes on the marker, Jesus, because the current of the world can make us drift. The foundational truth of salvation is based purely on the grace of Jesus Christ, not our performance. Focusing on our own works, rituals, or religious "doing" can cause us to lose sight of Jesus, the only true marker. 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀, whose finished work on the cross means we are already completely accepted and beloved. Stop exhausting ourselves trying to earn what has already been freely given, and find our rest in Him. Don't miss the marker. Not Keeping Score Keeping track of who gives more, who works harder, or who deserves more is often rooted in envy and a demand for fairness that this world can't provide. ● Grace offends the scorekeeper When we compare our blessings to someone else's, we may perceive others' successes as our loss. Drawing on the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20), those who worked all day complained when the latecomers received the same pay. It shows that when we focus on transaction and comparison, it may blind us to the generosity of the one giving the reward. Grace exposes envy. Instead of a scoreboard mentality, let's embrace a mindset of gratitude. ● Comparison corrupts calling Matthew 20:11 "When those hired first saw they were paid the same, they began to grumble.” Comparison is a thief that steals our joy and distracts us from our true mission. The quickest way to kill our gratitude is to compare our grace. If we keep looking at others' vineyards, we’ll stop working in ours. ● Grace reverses the order Matthew 20:16 "So the last will be first, and the first last.” Surrender the need to be the "winner" and instead focus on being faithful. The divine reward isn't about the hours we've clocked or our impressive credentials; it's about our heart and our commitment to a relationship built on trust, not performance. Let's make this our declaration today: "I'm not counting, I'm trusting. I'm not earning, I'm receiving. I'm not forgotten. I'm favoured" God’s grace isn’t fair, it’s better than fair. Fair gives you what you deserve. Grace gives you what only God can give. So stop keeping score. Because the scoreboard says ‘Game Over,’ But grace says, ‘It Is Finished.’ (fb)
