Our Year 9 students recently returned from an unforgettable six-day Outdoor Education Programme in the stunning Walpole wilderness 🌿🛶🐦 Two groups explored the beauty of Nornalup Inlet by kayak, while the other two tackled sections of the Bibbulmun Track, soaking in WA’s breathtaking bushland under clear skies. Throughout the week, the girls built on their leadership skills, practised navigation, and developed strong campcraft skills – all while working together in the great outdoors. As part of our environmental stewardship, students worked with local rangers to monitor native bird species and remove plastics from beaches and forests, contributing to local conservation efforts. Over the past two weeks, teams from both our Junior and Senior Schools have been competing in the annual da Vinci Decathlon. This week, sixteen students from Years 5 and 6 proudly represented PLC. Competing in teams of eight, they tackled challenging questions across 10 diverse disciplines: English, Art and Poetry, Ideation, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Cartography, Creative Producers, Legacy, and Code-Breaking. This fast-paced competition requires teams to work on multiple papers simultaneously, testing their knowledge, creativity, and collaboration. Our Year 6 team demonstrated excellent dedication and teamwork throughout the day. While they didn’t place in the top three, their effort and attitude were outstanding. The Year 5 team achieved remarkable results – 1st place in Art and Poetry, 2nd in English, Engineering, and Code-Breaking, and 3rd in Science and Ideation – earning them 3rd place overall out of 23 teams! PLC also entered Year 9 and Year 10 teams into the Senior School competition and they both placed 3rd overall in the competition. As well as placing 3rd overall, the Year 9 team came 3rd in Art and Poetry, English, and Science and the Year 10 team came 3rd in Code-Breaking.
