ARRCC
Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC)
Overview
The Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) is a multi-faith grassroots organisation that mobilises people across different faiths to take action on climate change and advocate for climate justice. ARRCC operates independently, allowing it to maintain its uncompromising stance on environmental and social issues without influence from government grants or large institutions[1][3].
Mission
ARRCC's mission is to engage faith communities in Australia in efforts to address climate change. The organisation works to encourage individuals and communities to adopt sustainable practices, support climate advocacy, and participate in policy discussions related to environmental protection[4].
Activities and Structure
- Membership and Community Engagement: ARRCC is a member-based organisation that relies on the contributions and activism of its members. It organizes various community activities, including workshops and campaigns, to raise awareness about climate issues[3][5].
- Advocacy and Partnerships: ARRCC collaborates with other faith-based groups and environmental organizations to amplify its impact. It focuses on building networks and supporting joint initiatives that promote environmental conservation and climate justice[5].
- Financial Support: ARRCC relies on donations to sustain its operations, particularly employing skilled community organisers who help strategize volunteers' efforts[1].
Impact
Through its activities, ARRCC aims to inspire a broader movement within Australian faith communities to address climate change. By mobilising diverse religious groups, ARRCC contributes to a broader national dialogue on climate action and environmental responsibility[1][4].

Outcome on Tuesday. Uncles Pabai and Paul are arguing that the Federal Government is negligent and has unlawfully breached their duty of care to the Torres Strait community. They are also asking the court to make an order to reduce climate emissions in line with the science. https://t.co/ctD0miTRcX (tw)
The global Jubilee 2000 Debt Campaign succeeded in getting $100 billion of developing country debt cancelled. 25 years later, Caritas and Jubilee Australia invite people to sign a petition to world leaders, and public, private, and multilateral institutions, asking for compassionate action to alleviate developing country debt. It's part of a global Turn Debt Into Hope campaign which seeks to lift the unbearable burden of debt from the shoulders of already impoverished countries and to create changes in the global financial system so it doesn't ever happen again. Fiji, Samoa and Tonga are among the countries that are forced to spend their limited money servicing debts rather than build sea walls or homes for those made homeless by ever more powerful cyclones. In the meantime, many wealthy countries (Australia not included at this stage) are giving 'Aid' and 'Climate Finance' more and more as loans, robbing the people of those island nations of hope. Read more about it in Caritas' and Jubilee's 'Waethering the Storm' Report. Please sign the petition and ask your friends to sign. Let's build the pressure on decision-makers the way we did in the year 2000! (fb)
